Introduction
There are 2 planning applications for industrial development along both sides of the access road to Wadswick Green (WG) from Westwells:
(PL/2022/01975) The former Stephens Industries site (on the right hand side as you approach Wadswick Green)
Planning Permission has been granted for a 3 storey data centre to extend an, as yet, unbuilt additional data centre behind it. No one at WG was consulted before this application was approved in September 2023. No further comments may be made. This Phase 5 of the Spring Campus development.
(PL/2024/05527) Sands Quarry (informally known locally as “The Donkey Field”), the land on the left as you approach WG.
A new application to build an 18.5 meter high 4/5 storey industrial building is in progress with a comment deadline of 31 Aug 24. 20 addresses in WG were written to in July. This is Phase 6 of the Spring Campus development.
Satellite image of the area. The WG access road is highlighted in blue. The existing data centre buildings are highlighted in green. The yellow area is where the previously approved 2 data storage buildings will be built (including Stephens's industry site.). The red area is the site of this latest application on the donkey field/Sands Quarry.
The aim of this blog is to inform WG residents about the plans and the issues in order to inform their personal decisions whether to approve or object to this latest application (Sands Quarry/donkey field). It is up to individuals to make their own comments noting that to do nothing is a tacit vote in approval of the plans. The planning system considers us all as individual householders so do not assume that Wadswick Green/Rangeford will respond on your behalf. If they do it only counts as 1 voice compared to the potential 255 individual resident voices. You are encouraged to use the comments facilities on these pages to communicate your opinion and to ask questions but this does not replace the need to formally register comments and objections on the council website.
