Sands Quarry (Donkey Field) Development Proposal

The proposed Sands Quarry development is 18.5 meters high (4 stories plus plant on the roof) and the length of 1.5 football pitches. The application reads as if the developers were unaware of the existence of Wadswick Green. All impact mitigation measures are aimed at reducing the impact on residents of Westwells/Neston. The consultation process to date has been deeply flawed; the authors created the consultation plan using an outdated map that still showed the outline of HMS Royal Arthur.

Proposed Site Plan, the WG access road runs along the top and down the left hand side

The south elevation viewed from Wadswick Green shows a maximum height of 18.57 meters, 4 floors plus air conditioning/plant on the roof.

The building is 160 meters wide (a standard football pitch is 100.6 meters long).

The new building will be 250 meters north of the Wadswick Green boundary behind Walnut Lane, in line with Walnut, Ash and Almond apartment blocks.

Site plan showing approximate relationship to Wadswick Green

This development will be visible from the Greenhouse/Pavilion (until Walnut Lane is built), Walnut Lane, the northern building of Ash and the upper floors of Ash and Almond. It will be brightly illuminated and have generators and air conditioning units running 24/7. It will blight our peaceful rural lifestyle.

We are protected from the worst of the noise and light pollution of the existing data centres by the wooded spoil heap on our western boundary. There is no spoil heap to protect us from this latest development and the other 2 that have been approved but not yet built.

Residents may also want to think about the impact of the additional traffic on the access road, the narrowness of that road and the absence of any pedestrian walkway. Note that both of these development plans show vehicle entrances/exits onto that access road.

The build will convert a quiet rural area into a heavily industrialised one. The development will remove open space and walking routes that are used by residents of WG.

The brightly lit data centres are coming within 200 meters of one of our bad barns. If it goes ahead it will make a mockery of all the bat preservation measures that had to be taken for the build of WG.
