Back up your photos to Google Photos

Why Back Up to Google Photos?
Everyone should back up their photos to at least one location to guard against loss, damage, or equipment failure.
Backing up all your photos makes sharing via Google Photos easier.
Google Photos is the club’s preferred photo sharing app because it works across all operating systems.
Introduction
You can automatically save your photos and videos from your Apple, Windows, or Android devices to your personal Google Account when you turn on backup. It takes less than a minute to set up, assuming you already have the Google Photos app installed on mobile devices. On Windows computers you access Google Photos via a web browser (I recommend Google Chrome for easy integration with all Google apps).
After setting it up it will take a while to copy all your photos from your local device onto the Cloud.
Follow the following instructions for your device.
Apple and Android Mobile Devices
Open the Google Photos app
Sign in to your Google Account (if you are not already signed in)
At the top right, tap your profile picture or initial.
This takes you to the Google Photos settings
Turn Backup on.
If you get a message asking to allow the app to access your photos, allow it.
Finished
Your photos and videos will now be copied to your personal Google Photos account (in the Cloud)
Windows (Mac) Computers
On your computer, you have 2 options:
Manually upload photos from Windows to Google Photos, or
download and install the Google drive for desktop App from:
https://photos.google.com/apps.
I recommend keeping it simple for now by sticking to the manual method.
Club members have found it difficult to find their photos for upload to Google Photos so I recommend the following workflow
Upload frequently (I suggest daily after each photography outing) from your camera to your computer.
Create folders in Windows for each input
Upload the contents of those folders to Google Photos immediately.
INSTRUCTIONS TO FOLLOW
File Storage Limits
Google provides 20GB of free storage with your basic Google account. This should be enough for all of you but, nevertheless, I recommend you should upgrade to 100GB storage as it comes with improved editing tools including some very useful AI based tools for only £15.99 per year.
